Privacy policy
Last updated October 17, 2026. This policy says, in plain terms, what personal information Margent collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept and what your rights are. It is written to comply with Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25), Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL).
Who this policy covers
It applies to people who visit trymargent.com, who book a call or write to us, to the contact persons at client and prospective client companies, and to personal information that may appear in the documents our clients entrust to us. Personal information is any information that identifies a natural person. A person’s business contact information (name, title, work address, email and phone), used to reach them in their professional capacity, is not covered by these laws; we handle it with the same care anyway.
Who operates Margent and who answers for your information
Margent is a service of Technologie Kryptic Inc., incorporated in Québec on December 27, 2023 and based in Montréal. The person in charge of the protection of personal information is Armel Bado, President. You can reach him at info@trymargent.com for any question, request or complaint about your information.
What we collect, and why
Visiting the site
The site requires no account and has no form. Like any site, it is served by a host (Vercel) that keeps technical logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) to run and secure the service; the host keeps these logs for a short period. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which sends your IP address to Google when they load. If audience measurement is enabled, it counts page views and a single event, the click on the booking button, in aggregate and without any personal identifier.
Booking a call
The booking calendar is provided by Cal.com (Cal.com, Inc., United States) and loaded in a frame from app.cal.com. What you enter there (name, email, time zone, notes) is processed by Cal.com under its own privacy policy and passed to us to hold the meeting. We use it to reply to you, prepare and hold the meeting, then to continue the conversation if you wish.
Writing to us
When you write to us, we keep your message and contact details to reply and follow up.
Contact persons at our clients and prospects
Margent is sold to companies. We keep a register of the people to reach at client companies and at companies that may become clients: name, title, company, work email and phone, and notes from our exchanges. These details come from you, from public sources (the company’s website, the business registry, public professional profiles) or from services that complete business contact details. They are used only to reach you about Margent in your professional capacity. You can ask not to be contacted at any time, and we act on it within ten business days.
The documents you entrust to us
When a client’s team forwards payment notices or deduction backups to Margent, these documents are mostly about companies, but they can contain information about people (a buyer’s name, a signature on a delivery slip). This is how they are handled. These commitments appear in our client proposals and match the system in place.
- Documents are processed on servers located in Canada (Toronto).
- Margent never deletes an email. Processed emails are moved to a “Traité” folder in the Margent mailbox, and you keep your copy in yours.
- When Margent reads a mailbox at your company, access is through a dedicated application account limited to that one mailbox, with no deletion right, which your IT can revoke at any time.
- Your documents are never used to train artificial-intelligence models. The models used to read documents are accessed through enterprise interfaces that do not learn from your data.
- Technical error monitoring records file names and column names, never amounts or customer names.
- During a pilot, a person at Margent reviews every email before it leaves. An email flagging a difference is never sent automatically, pilot or not.
- Nothing is installed at your company and your team has no account to create. Prepared packages come back by email and are filed on your own network.
On what basis we use it
We collect your information with your consent, which you give by booking a call, writing to us or entrusting documents to us, and we use it only for the purposes stated when it is collected. For the business contact details of our prospects, we rely on the fact that they are published or intended for business communications. You can withdraw your consent at any time; we then stop the use concerned, subject to what the law requires us to keep.
Who your information is shared with, and where it goes
We do not sell personal information and we do not disclose it to anyone for their own purposes. We use service providers that process information on our behalf:
- Vercel (United States): site hosting and technical logs.
- Cal.com (United States): call booking.
- Google Fonts (United States): font loading.
- Our application host, Toronto region: processing of client documents.
- Providers of document-reading models, through their enterprise interfaces that do not learn from our data.
- A technical error-monitoring service, which only receives file and column names.
- Our email, calendar and contact-register services.
Some of these providers are located outside Québec, mainly in the United States; the information they process may therefore be stored or accessed there, under those countries’ laws. Québec law requires an assessment before any personal information is communicated outside Québec. We carry it out for each provider, bind the provider by contract and limit what is sent to the strict minimum. Client documents, for their part, stay processed in Canada. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, for example under a court order.
Cookies and audience measurement
The site sets no tracking cookies and uses no technology that identifies, locates or profiles you. Audience measurement, if enabled, works without cookies and without identifiers. The booking frame is governed by Cal.com’s policy, including for its cookies, which serve the calendar’s operation; you can block third-party cookies in your browser and book by email instead.
How long we keep your information
- Bookings, messages and contact details: while the conversation is active, then at most 24 months after the last exchange, unless a business relationship continues or the law requires longer retention.
- Client documents: for the term of the contract, then deleted from our systems within 90 days of its end, unless the client asks for a copy or an earlier deletion.
- Technical logs and error monitoring: at most 90 days.
After these periods, the information is securely destroyed or anonymized.
How we protect it
The site and our exchanges with providers use encrypted connections. Access to client documents is limited to the people who need it, through named accounts, and the application account that reads a mailbox has no deletion right. We keep a register of confidentiality incidents. If an incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec and the people concerned, as the law requires. What we do not yet promise on this page: a published backup policy, certifications, availability commitments. They will be added when they exist.
Automated decisions
Margent reads documents and flags differences between figures. No decision with an effect on a person is made exclusively by automated means: results are reviewed by the client’s team, which decides, and an email flagging a difference is always reviewed by a person before it is sent.
Your rights
By writing to info@trymargent.com, you can:
- find out whether we hold personal information about you, and obtain a copy;
- have it corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
- withdraw your consent to its use or disclosure;
- ask for its deletion, subject to what the law requires us to keep;
- receive the computerized information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format, or ask that it be sent to another organization (right to portability);
- ask for the removal of a hyperlink leading to information about you, in the cases provided by law.
We answer in writing within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec. If you are outside Québec, you can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Commercial emails
When we send a commercial email, it says who is sending it and how to reach us, and it offers a simple way to stop receiving them: an unsubscribe link or a reply to the message. Removal requests are processed within ten business days, as Canada’s anti-spam legislation requires.
Minors
The site and our services are intended for companies and adults. We do not knowingly collect information about people under 14.
Changes
When this policy changes, the new version is published here with its date. If a change affects how we use information already collected, we inform the people concerned.
Name change
Margent was known as Ecomet until October 2026. The addresses ecometreach.com and getecomet.com belong to the same company and redirect to this site.
